Hi everyone, happy Wednesday!
Do you ever feel like it’s impossible to fit a workout into your busy schedule? I know I do. Traveling to a different city multiple times a week can be such a toll on your mental and physical health. I have to be honest with you—it’s so hard!
Sometimes I end my day around 1:30am only to wake up at 5:30am where I find myself in auto-pilot, lacing up my shoes while half asleep. One time I was so tired I just fell off a treadmill! Not great. However, most of the time I try to be really good about reserving the time for myself when it matters the most.
When I’m done writing this, I'm going to force myself to get on my Peloton, I just have to get my sweat on. I always have to remind myself that so much of this is mental. I've got a big meeting later today with the WEAR team and then I need to prep for games later this week, so this quick ride will be essential to just shake off the cobwebs. When I have a packed schedule, I look how I feel and, if I feel exhausted, I won’t be able to bring my A-game and be there for my team. Working out is truly the only thing that helps me out.
My mindset for working out—even when I’m traveling a lot—is to try to get something done every single day. Sometimes I know that's going to be unrealistic with my schedule and that’s ok (I don’t want to fall off any treadmills anytime soon!) I always know that if there's one day I have to miss, that's okay, because I'm going to get after it the next day. You can’t be too hard on yourself or your body.
It sounds insane, but I try to be really good even on game days! Most days I try to do at least 30 to 40 minutes of something, whether it's strength training, pilates, running on a treadmill at the hotel, or—my personal favorite—the Peloton app! I have the bike at home which I love, but their app has truly made working out on-the-go so easy for me!
I used to love discovering different workout classes in the different cities I traveled to, but now the Peloton app has eliminated the stress of finding a new studio and I can now get my sweat on in the comfort of my hotel room or hotel gym. I don’t always have weights with me so I love that I can just stack a few classes together to create my own lineup of body strength, pilates, or core classes.
The full body strength training classes are truly some of my favorites. Adrian Williams, Robin Arzón are some of my fave instructors there, they just really, really crush those classes every time. I’m not going to have time for it today, but I also love their bootcamp classes as well, they are unbelievable! I always get off my bike smelling like an absolute beast, you sweat so much haha! Tunde Oyeneyin is an unbelievable bootcamp instructor and just crushes it…yeah, I'm just obsessed! I feel like it’s really changed the workout game for me. I love every bit of it.
