Hi everyone. I hope you’ve had a great past few weeks. It’s been such a busy start to the NFL season, but I’m so excited to be back at the games with my NFL family. It’s been great to see so many fans back in the stands, cheering on their favorite teams. I know it was a hard year for all of us, so it’s exciting to be back with the energy of fans this season.
I know many fans weren’t able to go and support their teams in person last year. Stands were replaced with couches, but the games continued on. One thing stayed constant, however, and that’s your love for flaunting your passion for your favorite teams.
This past year has reminded me of how happy I am to have launched an apparel line for women. In the past, it was so difficult to find cute and comfortable team apparel for myself, and my female friends and family. After speaking with several fans and seeing a clear need, it occurred to me that this was an opportunity that many female sports fans had been waiting for; that there was an obvious white space being overlooked. Soon after, I met with my team at SMAC Entertainment and started writing ideas on the back of a receipt, and WEAR was born. 3 years and 8 months is what it took to bring WEAR to life. It started off slower than any of us would have liked, taking years of perseverance and persistence.
Since that night, WEAR has expanded beyond my wildest dreams and now has apparel for 114+ teams throughout the NFL, NBA, NHL, and select NCAA schools. In a year where most leagues shut their doors to fans for live games, you would expect sales for team apparel to go down, but we had the opposite. In fact, 2020 had some of the best sales ever and is now one of the top-selling non-sideline women’s apparel brands across all sports.
It’s so heartwarming that despite a difficult year, everyone is still so willing to show their support for the teams that they love. Sports was one of the only things that was alive and exciting and continues to bring us together no matter where we are. This season, as we begin to return to the stands, I encourage you to continue supporting the teams you love with the people you love.
Stay safe, and I’ll see you out there.
