Hi everyone,

Since yesterday I’ve been focused on the future of the NFL, this year’s Draft and all of the young, exciting talent that continues to pour into this league. This time of year is always exciting for the NFL Community because every fan has some hope…who cares what happened last year – your team could be drafting the cornerstone of your team’s turnaround or adding the missing piece to a Super Bowl run.

In most years the hype around the Draft is on the Quarterbacks, and for good reason. If you have a chance of making it all the way to the Super Bowl, chances are you have a pretty good QB leading your offense. This year a lot of talk and attention was on the Edge rusher out of Michigan, Aidan Hutchinson. Hutchinson ended up going No. 2 Overall to the Detroit Lions to add some more pass rush to their defense. He’ll join the ranks of some incredible Defensive Lineman whose singular mission is to terrorize the guy behind center.

One of those incredible talents is as nice off the field as he is intimidating on it and Charissa and I had the amazing opportunity to sit down with him during this offseason to talk football and his very own podcast Truss Levelz with Cam Jordan & Mark Ingram. One of the first things you notice about the 7x Pro Bowler, Cam Jordan is his larger-than-life personality (and the fact that he’s a teddy bear, even though he hates when I say that!). Over his 11-year career, Cam is known for his incredible generosity around New Orleans, team first attitude and always being a professional no matter how he or his team is performing. On the field, Jordan has anchored the Saints’ D-Line and overall defense for most of his career and has enjoyed every single second of it!

One of the best parts of my job is being on the field with the players and coaches. Getting to hear the in-game adjustments, players firing up their teammates or getting a closer look at an injury – there’s no better place to experience football than the sideline. Another exciting part of it, that wouldn’t be allowed in my report, is the trash talking that goes on from the second the two teams take the field. Cam is one of the best at it, creatively letting the guy across from him know exactly what he’s going to do to him and the rest of his team, usually using sarcasm as his weapon of choice!

During the offseason, Cam spends most of his time with his family, including his four kids (3 girls and 1 boy). The best part about being a Girl Dad? Cam says the LOVE… “They have so much love that I never knew existed…it’s almost too much love!” At home Cam’s kids are constantly hugging and holding him, trying to return the favor from all the QBs across the league.

If Cam Jordan isn’t one of your favorite players in the NFL, he should be! Let me know who some of your favorite defensive players in the NFL are right now in the comments. Out of this year’s draft so far, who will be the next dominant pass rusher?

Until next time,

Erin
