Hi everyone,

I hope that you’ve had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I just got back from one of my favorite places in the world—Big Sky, Montana.

I always look forward to our trips to our home in Montana. Whether it’s the dead of winter or middle of summer, there’s always something special about this place that brings me back each year. We have a really good close group of friends that go out there each year as well, so it’s a great time to see everybody from different parts of the country come together to catch up.

This past trip it was so cold, so we decided to just embrace the “aprés-ski” of it all and just stayed cozy and relaxed by one of the many fires Jarret built. During the winters we also love to ski—I’m not good at it AT ALL, but it’s so fun to just be on the slopes with everyone and enjoy being outside in the open air.

One of my favorite times to visit is during the summer. We’re always there around the Fourth of July and it’s so fun to have all of our friends together; we sometimes take turns hosting each other at our houses. One of the best parts of our neighborhood are the Friday night barbeques. Every Friday our neighborhood has a cookout for the community and it’s so nice to see everyone come together.

During the summers we love to go hiking and golf. There’s a really nice golf course by us that we love to either hit the driving range or rent a golf cart to hit the course for a bit. One of our favorite things to do is to rent a golf cart just before sunset with a solo cup full of wine or beer; there’s nothing like seeing the sun set in a beautiful place.

One of my favorite places to eat when we’re in Big Sky is Horn and Cantle. It’s really hard for us to get a reservation at the actual restaurant, but their saloon is absolutely fantastic. They always have live music, the food is amazing, and the ambiance is so warm and cozy—it’s the perfect place to be on a cold evening. If you ever want to go you need to get there right at 5pm, otherwise it fills up. We almost didn’t make it the other night and were literally running from our car, but it’s always worth it! This past visit I tried a delicious new drink called Ranch Water and I haven’t shut up about it; it’s apparently just blanco tequila, mezcal, jalapeno, agave, and lime and soda—but to me it was just magic. Everyone needs to try this!

One of the worst parts leaving Montana is seeing how depressed our dog Howie gets when he comes home. He loves it out there! Unlike here in LA, Howie is able to run off lease on our property in Montana and it’s so fun to see him let loose in the open air, especially in his favorite thing—snow! We always laugh though, he’s literally blocks away from the ocean here, but is still so sad to come back.

We still have yet to explore Yellowstone National Park or Glacier National Park. It’s hard because we are usually only visiting for a week at a time at the most, but would love to check out both of them someday. (Please share any advice you have on exploring those parks for the first time!)

Please share any of your other Montana favorites—we always love trying out new spots!

Until next time,

Erin
