Hey all, I hope your week is going well and that you’re having a great start to the new year.

I probably talk about it way too often, but I travel A LOT. Almost too much sometimes. I just spend way too much of my time at airports, but there’s no airport I frequent more than LAX. It’s one of my second homes and is my homebase for most of my travels each week.

Therefore—you guessed it—the second installment of my airport guides is all about LAX.

Food and Drink

These days I don’t really spend a lot of time at the airport. Because of my schedule, I usually really push it (sometimes too close!) to the last minute to go through TSA and board—sometimes I even arrive after my flight has already boarded.

However, if you need a quick fix, Burger Bar is a great place to grab a quick bite or chow down when your flight is delayed in the American Airlines terminal—they have THE BEST sweet potato fries and bun! However, I think they are currently doing some renovations, so there isn’t much at the moment. In fact, we walked through last week at around 11pm and it was completely dead—anyone else have this struggle? The American terminal also has a great Coffee Bean and Dunkin Donuts that I love when I desperately need some caffeine.

I know people (myself included) can get a little overwhelmed by how long the Starbucks line is at the Delta terminal, but let me reassure you that it moves FAST. The last thing we want to do is stand in more packed lines at the airport these days, but the line moves more quickly than you think so, don’t give up on your coffee fix!

Airline Lounges

Things are of course different with COVID currently, but I belong to both the Delta and American lounges and they are both incredible.

One of my favorite perks pre-COVID was American Airlines’ restaurant experience in the lounge. If you’re flying first or have an international flight, you’re able to have a 4-5 course meal right in the lounge. It’s always really amazing and I love to indulge in that when I have the time.

Security Tips

If you’re a frequent traveler, or at least go on a few trips a year, Clear is just a dream. It makes my lift so easy. I have both TSA PreCheck and Clear because they are my holy-grails for any and all airports. Luckily LAX has Clear at all the terminals, so if you have it you’re in and out so quickly and it makes life on-the-go so much easier.

There are so many times that we are rolling into TSA as the flight is boarding, so it saves us much time. Every little minute counts at the airport!

Driving and Arrivals Tips

Unfortunately the best way to get to LAX is by car and everyone who’s been close to LAX will know getting to the airport can sometimes be a journey itself. If traffic around the airport is super super backed up, there’s kind of a back way to get there. I honestly don’t know how-to quite explain it, but it’s not normal!

If the airport is super insane I sometimes get dropped off at arrivals instead of departures. It’s so much quicker and can be easier on the person dropping you off at the airport as well.

Do you fly in and out of LAX frequently as well? What are your favorite airport spots?

Until next time,

Erin

I no longer fly on red eyes because sleep is way too important, so I stay at a hotel near LAX and get an O-Dark-Thirty wake-up car for an early flight East. What is your favorite hotel near LAX? Which 1 is usually the most reasonably priced? Thanks.
