The most important part of the day – Sleep

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re having a great week so far! One of the most important aspects of life no matter your profession, schedule, age, or gender is sleep. It’s key for functioning at your best day in and day out. Without proper sleep, everything else crumbles…and sure, a coffee and espresso can make up for it sometimes, but eventually it always catches up to you!

Whether I’m in-season traveling from games to interviews to meetings, and then back home to do it all again the next week or heading to Montana with family during the offseason – I’m always on the move and sleep is a priority to make sure I can be at my best in every situation. Of course, we all have friends and family that struggle to get to bed, not always getting the full eight hours and some are curious as to how I maintain good sleep habits (when possible), while traveling across several time zones each week.

We all know the go-to Do’s and Don’ts around bedtime including limiting time on your electronics and blue lights right before bed (Phones, TVs, Laptops), not consuming caffeine too late in the day and trying not to take naps during the day (honestly, I wish I could nap more!). One of the more popular remedies when it comes to sleep is taking a melatonin supplement. For people who just naturally fall asleep (lucky) and may not be as familiar, Melatonin is a hormone primarily released at night and has a huge impact on your sleep. The production and release of this hormone is connected to the time of day – increasing when it gets dark out and decreasing when it’s light. Using this supplement, especially when traveling (and adjusting to time zones) helps your body’s sleep cycle return to normal.

Another product that I personally swear by is from Tom Brady’s health and performance company TB12. First, let me be clear that this is NOT an ad, I just love this product! TB12 Sleepis a nighttime supplement that helps your body relax before bed and get quality sleep. The supplement combines five main ingredients to ensure that you fall asleep faster and maintain a high level of sleep quality. The biggest factor for me is that you don’t feel groggy, so there’s no need to snap yourself out of the fog to start your day.

I’d love to hear any and all of your recommendations for how to fall and stay asleep. Whether it’s a “Sleepy Time Tea”, relaxing shower, or upgrading your mattress – let me know what works best for you and your friends/family as they try to maximize their quality of sleep.

Until next time,

Erin

You are absolutely right about the importance of a good night's sleep, Erin. Melatonin has helped me.
But just because you state something ISN'T an ad doesn't mean it's NOT an ad. I'm pointing to your reference of Tom Brady's supplement. Really unnece…
